Pete is CTO and Head of Engineering at Metrical, serving major retail brands with enterprise analytics and behavioral AI. His background spans software engineering, cloud architecture, and DevOps, with a focus on large-scale data systems, AI-assisted development, and agentic-based workflows. He also runs Freehold Software, an Ames-based consultancy building custom software for nonprofits.

Pete has attended dsmHack for nine consecutive years, drawn to the event's mix of hard technical problems and real-world mission impact.

Outside of work, Pete is a taekwondo practitioner and instructor, plays tennis, and enjoys woodworking, video and board games, and cooking and BBQ. He also runs a sprawling home lab where he tinkers with self-hosted infrastructure and local LLM inference. He lives in Ames, Iowa.
