We are beyond thrilled with our new and improved dsmHack website. We are sure that it will enable us to better serve the nonprofit and technology communities in Des Moines, which in turn benefits the community as a whole!
As a new nonprofit, we knew we had a lot more to share than what we could easily do on our existing website. So, we decided that our own website was an excellent opportunity to “dog food” our hackathon process so that we can best prepare our nonprofit participants for our annual Des Moines Charity Hack.
In September, we met with a few of our long-time dsmHack volunteers to create a new and improved digital presence that we feel better represents us as an organization while also enabling us to help nonprofits year round. We followed the recommendations we give to nonprofits that participate in our hackathon and were happy with how smoothly everything went. In addition, we made some tweaks to the overall process that will help everyone succeed during our events. We hope to publish a case study of sorts about our experience in hopes that it will provide some insight into how the event works. Keep an eye out for that and other nonprofit project stories that are sure to inspire.
It’s been a busy year for dsmHack and we can’t wait to share everything we’ve been working on. Take some time to explore our new site and let us know what you think! May we suggest that you check out our new vision and mission statements? Make sure to also take a look at our upcoming events (don’t forget to get registered!). We think you’ll like what you see. Stay tuned for more posts about upcoming events and what dsmHack has been up to!
We’d like to share our heartfelt gratitude with our mini-hack participants that helped make our new site possible:
Thanks for helping us make a difference in Des Moines.
