Salesforce for Nonprofits
After reconnecting with a Des Moines connection (we used to take yoga classes together), I was reminded about the power of community connections. Through mutual friends at the Greater Des Moines Community Foundation (who dsmHack will be speaking with next month), Joseph Piearson and I got together for coffee to strategize ways to continue serving our non-profit community in these challenging and still somewhat virtual times. Cue- Salesforce (according to Salesforce).
What Is Salesforce?
Salesforce is the world’s #1 customer relationship management (CRM) platform. We help your marketing, sales, commerce, service and IT teams work as one from anywhere — so you can keep your customers happy everywhere.
Joseph is a Salesforce guru (I mean, the guy has been to DreamForce!) and loves to coach people through the benefits and tools available when using the program. He and some friends have also started a nonprofit user group in Des Moines (Did you know that nonprofits can purchase the Salesforce program at the discounted rate of.. FREE?).
Check out their group description below.
If you are in Iowa, we welcome you to connect here with other nearby Salesforce NonProfit Users. Use this area to share ideas, ask questions, post jobs, learn about local Salesforce events and get to know other users in Iowa.

In his next step towards world domination, Joseph is getting ready to teach an ‘Introduction to Salesforce’ course at Des Moines Area Community College. Even more exciting- DMACC is offering the course at a discounted rate to nonprofit organizations with the option to Zoom in from anywhere!
Class description below:
DMACC's Introduction to Salesforce course will offer an overview of the Salesforce platform, providing students with a basic understanding of the cloud-based CRM tool and what it can do. Since nonprofits are able to utilize the Salesforce CRM platform for free, this course would be a great introduction for any nonprofit professionals interested in using Salesforce in the future or for current users looking to deepen their understanding of the platform. All experience levels are welcome, including no experience at all! The course will meet in person on the DMACC Ankeny Campus, but participation via Zoom is also available. An advanced course will be offered early next year.
The last 18 months have been challenging for so many and we know that nonprofits are bearing the brunt of so much. We hope this opportunity provides an affordable chance to learn and grow in these trying times. For more information take a look at the attached flier.
Go forth and be awesome!
